"Our over-reliance on cars and $4-per-gallon gasoline has led us to dig a really deep hole for ourselves. The Purple Line is the ladder that helps us climb up out of this hole toward the light of rational land use, friendly commutes and a stable climate." Mike Tidwell, director of CCAN

Light Rail outside of Maryland
updated: February 14, 2007

Today, a renaissance of modern light rail is sweeping the US and the rest of the world. The Coalition is studying many of these light rail projects to capitalize on their successes and learn from their mistakes. Occasionally, we will evaluate these other projects here on our website. Here are some of our favorite light rail projects:

  • Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Twin Cities Light Rail (Minnesota)
  • Paris, France

Please click here to view select images of Light Rail transit in: Media, Pennsylvania; Montpelier, France; Portland, Oregon; and Strasbourg, France

We're working on this area. Please bookmark this page and check for new information on the following cities in the coming weeks:

    Houston, Texas
    St. Louis, Missouri
